What is Pickleball?

A paddle sport created for all ages and skill levels. The rules are simple and the game is easy for beginners to learn, but can develop into a quick, fast-paced, competitive game for experienced players.

The Basics

  • A fun sport that combines many elements of tennis, badminton and ping-pong.
  • Played both indoors or outdoors on a badminton-sized court and a slightly modified tennis net.
  • Played with a paddle and a plastic ball with holes.
  • Played as doubles or singles.

Program Offerings

Crossroads Tennis will offer a variety of programs to suit players of all abilities and ages.  Current offerings include the Newcomer & Seasoned Program.  Coming soon are Round Robin Series and Tournaments.  For additional information on offerings, please click links to left.  

Pickleball Director- Marcus Luke

Marcus Luke, a former tennis player, lives in Winston Salem, NC. After picking up a paddle 4 years ago be became addicted to Pickleball. He has spent the past few years traveling the US and testing his abilities against the best players in the world. He has built the reputation as one of the top Senior Pro players in the country. He has medal in over 100 tournaments but says he cherishes his two US Open medals above all.  When he isn’t playing Pickleball, he’s spending time with Jennifer, his wife of 27 years and their son Cain, a Senior at Appalachian State in Boone, NC.
